BREAKING: 18 dead as canoe capsizes in Bauchi

Eighteen folks, comprising three male and 14 feminine, died on Thursday as a canoe carrying 23 folks from Zango Majiya to the farm capsized on River Buji in Itas Gadau Native Authorities Space of Bauchi State.

“On reaching the center of River Buji, the canoe capsized and consequently, the next individuals: Abdulraham Shehu, Male (20); Suwaiba Yusuf, feminine (12); Saude Abdulkarim, feminine (14); Fatima Maigari, feminine (10); Zuwaira Maigari, feminine (10); Hari Maigari, feminine (9); Hussaina Maigari, feminine (8); Ummani Abdulkarim, feminine (15); Halima Saminu, feminine (15) of Gidan Ganji village.

“Others are Najaatu Hamza, (15); Nura Abdullahi, Male (25); Yahuza Abdullahi, (12); Hafsa Abdullahi, feminine (11) of Majiya village, Sadiya Hashimu, (10); Khadija Alhassan, (15) of Gwarai village; Amina Idris, (15); Kaltime Hudu, feminine (14); Furaira Malam Magaji, feminine (14) of Zangon Majiya village have been drowned within the river and died on the spot.

“The canoe driver and one Aisha Adamu, feminine (16), Umaru Adamu, male (30) have been rescue unconscious.”

He knowledgeable that the deceased corpses have been recovered from the river and brought to the Itas Basic Hospital for postmortem examination.
