University of Dayton Sinclair Academy Scholarship Opportunities

University of Dayton and Sinclair Community College would offer new scholarships and supports to students involved in a partnership between two local colleges.

University of Dayton Sinclair Academy Scholarship

The University of Dayton Sinclair Academy has received $1 million from Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Judy and Fred Wilpon Family Foundation and $1.25 million from an anonymous local donor.

“The University of Dayton Sinclair Academy Scholarship helps talented students who have limited incomes consider a UD degree as an option. These students transform our campus for the better,” said University of Dayton President Eric Spina. “As graduates, they meet critical needs in our local workforce and uplift our region.

As a result of the grant from the Bloomberg and Wilpon foundations, the university will become part of the Kessler Scholars Collaborative and create the UD Sinclair Academy Kessler Scholars program for first-generation college students.

Kessler Scholars receive financial aid as well as personalized services and programming designed to foster academic, professional and personal growth. The first cohort of 20 students will enroll in fall 2023.

“These two gifts are mutually reinforcing for the University of Dayton Sinclair Academy Scholarship and speak to both the local impact and the national leadership position we have assumed,” Spina said. “They help us sustain and expand this important program to improve access for students.

Students who participate in the University of Dayton Sinclair Academy Scholarship are immediately enrolled at both schools and are part of both campus communities. They begin their studies at Sinclair and earn a bachelor’s degree from UD.

The Academy supports their success with clear degree pathways so students know exactly which classes to take, as well as academic advisors on both campuses and transparent four-year-financial information upfront.

Academy particpants also have access to UD’s campus activities, library, and recreation center.

University of Dayton partnership with Sinclair Community College serves as a national model for how private institutions and community colleges can support students holistically.
